What is the alternative to Angi Leads?
Owning the lead instead of renting it. A marketplace sells the same lead to three or four of your competitors, so what you pay per lead and what you pay per job are two very different numbers.
What a shared lead really costs
A shared lead goes to several contractors. Say it goes to four, and say you are as good as the other three, so you win one in four. You paid four times over for the one job you got.
Compare that number against everything else you spend on, rather than the price per lead. It usually lands three or four times above the invoice, which is why the spend feels wrong even when each lead looks cheap.
You are mostly buying speed
The first contractor to call usually wins, and the gap is minutes. Three other shops got the same lead at the same second, so it is worth only what you can do in the next five minutes.
If your phone goes unanswered at 6pm, or a form sits until morning, you are paying marketplace prices for leads somebody else already won.
The three alternatives
They are not equal. Google Local Services Ads still charges per lead, but the lead is yours alone, and verification takes weeks. Your own Google Business Profile and website are slowest to build, cheapest to run, and nobody can take them off you. And answering the calls and forms you already get costs nothing in media.
Most shops that leave a marketplace and stay happy about it did the third one first.
What this page will not claim
We are not going to tell you Angi is a scam. For some shops in some seasons it is the cheapest work they can buy. The claim here is smaller and you can check it yourself: compare on cost per job done rather than cost per lead, and the picture usually changes.
