Shared-lead math: what a marketplace lead really costs

A marketplace sells the same homeowner to several shops at once. Each of you pays. Only one of you gets the job. The invoice shows the lead price; this shows what each job you won actually carried.

Your numbers

What the marketplace charges you when a lead comes in. Your statement has it.

Angi and HomeAdvisor typically send one lead to several pros. Four is a common working figure; use what your rep told you.

Of the shared leads you paid for, the share you booked. If you do not know, use the even split the tool shows.

Compare this against what a job costs you from Local Services Ads or your own site, not against the lead price. That is the comparison the marketplace would rather you did not make.

How it is worked out

If a lead goes to four shops and you win as often as the other three, you win one in four. You paid for four leads to get one job, so the real cost per job is the lead price times four.

Your own win rate replaces the even split. Cost per job is the lead price divided by your win rate.
